Ljubodrag Jankovic

Ljubodrag Janković, known as Jale, was born on March 9, 1932, in Pirot, Serbia. He graduated from the Academy of Applied Arts in Belgrade in 1954, studying under Professor Vinko Grdan. He later became an assistant professor at the Academy and eventually a full professor at the Faculty of Applied Arts in Belgrade, specializing in life drawing.

Jale was renowned for his depiction of female nudes, with soft, sculptural forms that evoked the cult of the Great Goddess Mother. His work combined the human form with elements of flora and fauna, creating a distinct sensual atmosphere. He was a member of ULUPUDS and ULUS, participating in numerous solo and group exhibitions both in Serbia and internationally.

Jale passed away on June 10, 2022, leaving behind a lasting legacy in Serbian art.
