Feđa Soretić
Fedor Feđa Soretić was born in 1930 (Novi Sad) and deceased in 2023 (Florida). He graduated from the Academy of Fine Arts in Belgrade, studying under Nedeljko Gvozdenović. He became a member of ULUS (Association of Fine Artists of Serbia) in 1954 and was a professor of art education at the Faculty of Architecture in Belgrade until 1992, when he moved to the United States. He currently resides in Florida.
The monograph “5 Decades Without Ceasing”, lovingly and expertly written in collaboration with the artist by Jasna Jovanov in 2007, includes a collection of works featuring motifs such as the harvests and orchards of Srem, the Dubrovnik staircases, and Adriatic islands, as well as watercolors of Hilandar.
During the 1950s, FeÄ‘a Soretić embraced a style of painting characterized by expressive forms and rich color. He is widely recognized as a successor to the great tradition of Vojvodina landscape painters such as Šumanović, Radović, and Konjović. However, his oeuvre remains unfinished, and the distinctive personal touch of his paintings affirms the validity of his figurative approach.
While living and working in Belgrade, Feđa Soretić was an active participant in artistic events not only in Serbia and across the former Yugoslavia but also in the United States.
